Nano Brows

Nano Brows, also known as Machine Hairstroke Brows or Hyperrealism Brows, are suitable for all skin types and flow with your own brows for the most realistic look.

AURA Permanent Makeup specialises in natural-looking, hair stroke style brows. Nano brows are created by implanting pigment using a digital tattoo device to look like hair strokes (hence their alternative name - Machine Hairstroke Brows) - it’s an advanced technique that can be customised to your own brows, with more crisp vs shaded areas to create definition for that hyperrealistic look.

Nano brows are suitable for everyone, but especially recommended if you have oily, sensitive or mature skin (where microblading is generally less suitable). Nano brows are also gentler to the skin and causes less trauma, resulting in a faster healing process.

  • Nano brows (also known as Hyperrealism Brows or Hairstroke Brows) are suitable for all skin types, including sensitive and mature skin, as well as oiler skin types.

If you have very oily skin, you may require a third top up or more frequent appointments, as they may fade quicker.

  • Your appointment will start with a full consultation to discuss your brow goals, desired shape and colour, and cover any problem areas or concerns you have. Stacey will then map your new brows for the perfect proportions and hand draw custom brows designed for your face.

Once we’ve checked you love the shape, we’ll mix up the pigment and start creating your brows. The tattoo process takes about 1.5 hours. Numbing will be applied throughout to make sure you’re comfortable - many clients fall asleep during the treatment (or find tweezing the brows the painful bit). The appointment takes up to 3.5 hours in from start to finish.

  • Your brows will take 7-14 days to heal, during which time they will look 40-50% darker than when healed. They will shed the skin (please do not pick, for the best healed results) and lighten by day 14. The colour will then gradually come back over the following weeks until it has settled in the skin for your healed result. Please see aftercare instructions for more details on what to expect!

A touch up is required 6-8 weeks after your initial appointment. We recommend booking this at the same time as your first appointment. We will go over the brows to saturate further and fill in any areas that need additional hair strokes to complete the look.

Nano Brow FAQs

  • Yes, nano brows will gradually fade following the treatment. Nano brows are a semi-permanent treatment which typically last 1-2 years before needing a top up. If left untouched, they will continue to fade out gradually. Everyone metabolises pigment at different rates so this time scale can vary.

  • Once you have had both the initial treatment and 6-8 week top up, nano brows will last 1-2- years before an annual refresh is due.

We will want to make sure your nano brows have faded enough to top up - if in doubt, just send a photo before booking and Stacey will let you know if they’re ready!

  • Microblading has been hugely popular over the years, and is the term most people will have heard of. Microblading implants pigment using a handheld blade to create singular hair strokes.

Nano brows are the latest brow treatment taking the permanent makeup world by storm. Nano brows are an advanced and highly-skilled semi-permanent makeup treatment, which uses a digital tattoo device to implant hairstrokes instead of a blade. The method of implantation means you can create hyperrealistic effects by layering hairs, adding shading, and creating different hair stroke thicknesses. Nano brows more gentle on the skin, which means a less painful treatment and faster healing process.

Nano brows are suitable for all skin types (oily, mature, sensitive), where as microblading is only typically suitable for normal/dry skin.

  • Nano brows are NOT to be confused with nanoblading. Nano brows are an advanced technique that uses a tattoo machine to implant pigment in hairstroke patterns. Nanoblading is the same as microblading, but with an extra thin “nano” blade - the terms nano brows and nanoblading are often used interchangeably (even by artists), but they are not the same.

  • AURA Permanent Makeup specialises in nano brows and is based in Bristol, in the heart of Clifton Village (just by the Primrose Cafe) within a professional PMU studio. It’s a lovely bright and airy space where you can relax during your treatment.

You can find parking a short walk away in West End car park (for long stay parking) - it is also easy to reach by bus, taxi/Uber or any other form of transport.
